1)beneath [bɪˈniːθ]prep.在…下边,在…之下ad.在下方It is the masses beneath them that are left behind.(12, T4)落后的人是学历不如他们的大众阶层。

 

2)beneficial [benɪ'fɪʃ(ə)l]a.(+to)有利的,有益的Cortina said, early exposure is beneficial.(16,T1)科缇娜说,早接触(编程)是有益的。

 

3)beneficiary [benɪ'fɪʃ(ə)rɪ]n.受惠者,(遗产的)受益人Her husband was the chief beneficiary of her will.  她丈夫是她遗嘱的主要受益人。

 

4)bid [bɪd]v.祝愿;命令,吩咐;报价,投标n.出众,投标Parents would be looking at their emails while the children would be making excited bids for their attention.(17,T2)当孩子兴奋地叫喊父母,想引起他们注意时,父母却在看着他们的电子邮件。

 

5)bidder ['bɪdə]n.出价人,投标人The bidder withdrew his bid after submission of his bid.  投标者在投标之后撤销了投标书。

 

6)provision [prə'vɪʒ(ə)n]n.供应,(一批)供应品;预备;条款;(pl.)给养The government is responsible for the provision of health care.  政府负责提供医疗服务。

 

7)bind [baɪnd]v.捆,绑,包括,束缚,约束A result seen in France and other countries with legally binding provisions on placing women in top business positions(13,T4)法国和其他国家通过法律规定女性在公司高层的比例,这一做法就产生了这样的效果

 

8)blank [blæŋk]a.空白的,空着的;失色的n.空白;表格It is easy for children to get used to blank expressions.(17,T2)孩子们很容易习惯于面无表情。

 

9)blanket ['blæŋkɪt]n.毛毯,毯子Phones become our security blanket.(15,完型)手机成了我们的保护毯。

 

10)operational [ɒpə'reɪʃ(ə)n(ə)l]a.操作的,运转的The new airport is now fully operational .  新机场现在可全面投入运营。

 

11)blueprint ['blʊ'prɪnt]n.蓝图,设计图,(周详的)计划vt.制成蓝图,计划The country's president will offer delegates his blueprint for the country's future.该国总统会向代表们展示他构想的国家未来发展的蓝图。

 

12)raise [reɪz]v.举起,提升;增加;饲养;引起;竖起;提出raise more funds for fire-prone areas(17,T4)为火灾多发地区筹集更多资金

 

13)operation [ɒpə'reɪʃ(ə)n]n.运转,开动,操作;(+on)手术;运算Some western growers have responded by moving operations to Mexico.(19, T3)一些西部的农民将业务转移到了墨西哥。

 

14)boil [bɒɪl]v.(使)沸腾,煮(沸)The only way of getting clothes clean was to boil them.(12,T2)把衣服洗干净的唯一方法是把它们煮开。

 

15)calorie ['kælərɪ]n.卡路里(热量单位)Clearly, high calorie fast food has become a problem.显然,高热量快餐成了问题。

 

16)bold [bəʊld]a.大胆的,勇敢的;冒失的;黑体的,粗体的If we were really bold, we might even begin to think of high-calorie fast food in the same way as cigarettes.(11,T5)如果我们够勇敢的话,甚至可以开始采取禁烟一样的方式来对待高热量的快餐。
